Beyond the Surface: Bowel and Bladder Health, Skin Care and Product Choices

November 27 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free

Bowel and bladder changes are common as we age, but they don’t have to limit comfort, confidence, or independence. With the right knowledge, healthy habits, and appropriate products, many concerns can be prevented, improved, or successfully managed.

In this practical, prevention-focused session, you’ll learn:

  • How the bladder and bowel normally function
  • Common causes of incontinence and constipation
  • Lifestyle habits that support bowel and bladder health, including hydration, nutrition, and physical activity
  • How to choose continence products that best meet individual needs
  • Ways to protect the skin from moisture-associated skin damage (MASD)
  • Practical strategies for maintaining comfort, dignity, and independence
  • When to seek advice from a health-care professional

Whether you are managing your own health or supporting a loved one, you’ll gain practical, evidence-informed information to help make informed decisions, reduce complications, and encourage open conversations about a topic that affects many older adults.

The session is led by Lesley Leedam, a Licensed Practical Nurse, certified Skin Wellness Associate Nurse (SWAN), and Advanced Foot Care Nurse. With more than three decades of health-care experience, Lesley is passionate about closing the gap in prevention-focused education for older adults and caregivers. Through engaging, evidence-based teaching, she empowers individuals with the knowledge and confidence to stay healthier, safer, and more comfortable as they age.
