Healthy Skin Starts Here: Simple Skin and Wound Care for Everyday Life

October 23 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free

Healthy skin plays an important role in protecting the body, maintaining comfort, and supporting overall well-being. As we age, skin naturally becomes thinner, drier, and more vulnerable to injury, but many common skin problems can be prevented with simple daily habits.

In this prevention-focused session, you’ll learn:

  • How aging affects the skin and its ability to heal
  • Why the pH of soaps and skin care products matters
  • Simple daily skin care routines that help protect fragile skin
  • How to recognize and prevent common skin tears
  • The basics of moisture-associated skin damage (MASD) and other preventable skin concerns
  • When first aid is appropriate and when to seek medical attention

Whether you are caring for yourself, a spouse, a family member, or someone you support, you’ll gain practical strategies to help maintain healthy skin and reduce the risk of wounds before they happen.

The session is led by Lesley Leedam, a Licensed Practical Nurse, certified Skin Wellness Associate Nurse (SWAN), and Advanced Foot Care Nurse. With more than three decades of health-care experience, Lesley is passionate about closing the gap in prevention-focused education for older adults and caregivers. Through engaging, evidence-based teaching, she empowers individuals with the knowledge and confidence to stay healthier, safer, and more comfortable as they age.
