Advantages and Challenges of Aging in Place
Most older Canadians want to remain in their homes as they age, yet only one in four feel confident they’ll be able to do so. Aging in place offers many advantages, but it also comes with practical challenges. This workshop provides nine focused checklists covering the essential considerations that can help you plan today for the lifestyle you want tomorrow.
Participants will also have time to exchange ideas and share effective strategies for aging in place, so please bring your experiences and insights.
Debra Swain is a retired teacher with extensive experience leading professional development workshops. In retirement, she has devoted much of her time to sharing information on health, wellness, and safety with seniors. Learning alongside older adults has offered her plenty of “food for thought” about the realities of aging in Canada.
Her interests include gardening, swimming, walking, and reading—and she finds that retirement is, indeed, quite lovely.
