Your kindness supports local seniors like Monty

Over the last few months, your generosity has helped us turn isolation into connection for seniors who need it most.

One of the ways your support makes a difference is through robotic companion pets. They may look simple – but in the hands of a lonely senior, they bring real comfort, calm, and joy.

Monty, a resident at the Summit living with dementia, has built a special bond with Sparky, his freckled robotic pup. Sparky not only comforts Monty but has also become a source of strength for his wife.

“Sparky is a real conversation starter,” she shares. “We take him for wheelchair rides around the Summit care home, and he attracts lots of attention.”

“Because Monty is nonverbal, it’s nice to have others stop and talk to him when he has Sparky along. The puppy is such a perky, happy guy – it’s a really positive addition to our lives. I’m so grateful for the extra things Eldercare funds in long-term care.”

Amie Aniban, a Rehabilitation Assistant in long-term care says: “The biggest issue I see in long-term care is loneliness. It’s just amazing to hand a robotic companion pet to a resident and watch them light up with joy. They are one of many therapeutic tools Eldercare supports that offer comfort and connection.”

These lifelike companions are not meant to replace people – they simply help caregivers and bring warmth and connection to moments when human company isn’t always possible.

Thanks to your kindness, seniors like Monty feel seen, supported, and never forgotten.

Your compassion is helping us bring comfort into lives that need it. Thank you for making this possible.
