Donut Days celebrate fall and bring long-term care residents together

For many years, Eldercare Foundation has brought joy and connection to seniors in long-term care with our summer ice cream days. These treats are so much more than a sweet break in the day – they bring people together, offer a chance to reminisce and build new  memories, and bring much-needed joy into the everyday. We’ve heard many stories of residents who rarely get out of bed making sure they are up and out, ready to get their ice cream!

We decided once per year wasn’t enough. To celebrate the changing of the season, Eldercare Foundation brought in Holy Cow Mini Donuts to share warm, cinnamon-dusted treats for residents at Aberdeen, Glengarry, The Summit, The Priory, Gorge, Brentwood House and Slugget House Long-Term Care Homes.

Alongside the delicious donuts, Eldercare also set up opportunities for residents and staff to take beautiful autumn-themed photos. The pictures were a real hit with everyone and brought even more fun to an already lively event.

Donut Days were a huge success with residents and their family members as well as staff all enjoying the cozy and sweet treat. The sights, smells, and tastes sparked conversations, laughter, and nostalgic stories that brought people together across generations. Moments of joy and connection like these are all thanks to Eldercare Donors.
