Preventative health care isn’t just a good idea—it’s essential, especially for seniors who face a higher risk of skin, foot, and nail complications. This December at the Yakimovich Wellness Centre, we’re diving into the ins and outs of preventative skin, foot, and nail care.
Join us on Wednesday, December 10, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm for an engaging, evidence-based session led by Lesley Leedam, an Advanced Foot Care Nurse, LPN, and Skin Wellness Associate Nurse (SWAN).
Lesley’s workshop, Beyond the Surface: Understanding Skin Health & Wellness, is designed to give older adults and caregivers the practical tools they need to support long-term skin and foot health. Her prevention-first approach focuses on reducing avoidable injuries and complications by putting knowledge directly into the hands of those who need it most.
“My philosophy is simple,” Lesley says. “We should not be treating preventable problems—we should be preventing them in the first place.”
With over 30 years of experience in community health care, Lesley brings a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to professional, evidence-based practice.
Outside of nursing, Lesley is a proud mother and grandmother who understands firsthand the importance of adapting to changing health needs. Living with arthritis in her feet, she’s traded long walks for cycling—her go-to way to stay active, ease joint pressure, and enjoy the outdoors, whether she’s exploring local trails or pedaling across the province.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, connect, and take proactive steps toward healthier aging—starting with the skin you’re in.
